Dear members of the Traditional Karate Italy Federation,
I am Prof Massimiliano Farina, vascular surgeon and angiologist, and I address you all as the new medical director of your federation. It is a great honor and a great responsibility for me to take on this role, which will allow me to put my skills and experience as a doctor at the service of the federation, having long been involved in the prevention, early diagnosis and treatment of the most important vascular problems. , secondary to intense physical activity or trauma. My role will therefore be to guarantee, first and foremost, the health and safety of karate practitioners, both at a competitive and amateur level, providing consultancy and training support to masters and instructors, so as to be able to raise awareness among athletes in preparation. of their training sessions. All this, obviously, as a function of broader collaboration with federal bodies, affiliated companies, health and sports institutions and other professional figures with the aim of improving the quality of sports performance and the health of athletes. Furthermore, I am happy to have been involved in this new adventure which allows me to appreciate a set of values such as dedication, respect, discipline and spirit of sacrifice, which represent the dominant nucleus of a discipline, which is not just sport, but above all a true philosophy of life. And this is no small thing in times like these, where true values and awareness of them have gradually become more and more uncertain.
I want to sincerely thank the president of the federation, Corrado Foti, for choosing me and giving me this splendid opportunity. I also thank all the members of the board of directors, the teachers, the instructors, the technicians and the collaborators of the association for the trust and support they have shown me.
